Registration and Website recovery Guide
Welcome to OpenwaterSwim .. we know that what we provide encourages people to join and participate in OpenWater. Since 2005 many many people have started their journey with us and we are proud with what has been accomplished.
We are also acutely aware that Safety is our TOP PRIORITY and in order to facilitate the process of ensuring that the count of finishers equals the count of starters we needed to implemented processes to accomplish this.
All participants need a SwimNo. This provides us with comfort that you read our t’s and c’s and provided us with contact details. This is a once-off process [REGISTRATION] and you are issued a permanent SwimNo that can be used to log all your swims. We are hoping that this will provide you with a Progress Report. It also provides us the opportunity to vett your participation in events that are more complex.
All participants need a Event ticket. This enables us to generate a start-list and evaluate the resources required to support the event.
Over the years we have taken note that 98% of participants hate or rather detest queues. Under COVID-19 this has become even more important. Accordingly we have looked for ways to remove paperwork on the Day and streamline the Check-in and Check-out process. In the search we have identified some funky technology that has been developed which we hope to use to continuously improve your experience.
On the Day you will be
Checked In – by scanning the FinishTime Passport which you have loaded on your phone (or family phone or friend’s phone). It caters for 5 profiles! This identifies you and enables us to issue you a numbered wristband that will indicate the route you are participating on.
When your Finish – your wristband will be scanned to mark you off course (So we don’t go looking for you). This also provides a timestamp which enables us to calculate duration as well as finish sequence.
If for whatever reason you exit early the details on the wristband will enable us to identify you.
A backup safety check is completed when your Check-Out at the admin desk . Your wristband will be removed.
